As much as I wanted this to be a hoax, my gut is telling me it isn't. Paul Walker died this afternoon in a car crash. It's sad, of course, when anyone dies, and I didn't know Paul Walker personally. However, I've come to greatly respect him as an actor. We lost a truly talented individual, guys. This man was brilliant in Fast and Furious, and I loved him in The Skulls. Truly, truly gifted.

Aside from that, I think he was a great person as well. Back when I was on Facebook, he was one of the only celebrities I actually followed. I remember him almost always advertising something to do with a charity, or wildlife, or maybe something involved with both. Either way, he seemed like a really down-to-Earth, self-less guy, and I think that's something really admirable. I used to love looking at his Facebook page, because there would always be something really inspirational for me to see or read to get me through my day. He had a bright, positive attitude, and there didn't seem to be too much ego there, either.

I just don't understand why someone like this has to be involved in a horrific car crash. It just doesn't seem fair. Nonetheless, my thoughts go out to his friends and family. Of course, I hope he rests in peace, and that the work he started here on Earth continues. I'll really miss being able to read about someone who was such a positive role model, both for me personally, and for so many others across the globe.

Paul Walker, you will be missed.
I know it's cliche, but it really is a new chapter for me. Switching schools, switching majors...I'm hoping to become a vet now! It was funny, because I wrote an article a couple months back about these nursing students and how popular the nursing field was becoming, and one of the students told me that several of her friends were always telling her how she should be a nurse. She was something else first, but then she finally realized nursing was for her. Another student (who, after calling her Mrs., I awkwardly learned was divorced...and proceeded to awkwardly gap because I'm lame like that) said she'd always been taking care of people. That got me thinking--my mother had always told me I'd make a good vet, and my local zoo is seriously like a third home to me. With volunteering, which I haven't gotten to do as much of as I'd like because of work, the zoo has become like a second home to me. So why was I pursuing meteorology (the study of weather, not meteors, in case you were wondering)?

Now I've got about a week left before I begin my time as a new Biology major. I'm terrified, because I am absolutely awful at biology, but I think being a meteorology major, even for the brief time of a year, left me with a lot of confidence. I was mortified of taking calculus, but hey I made it through. I was even scared of going to college in general, and I made it through that, too. And honestly, I get really excited when I think about becoming a vet. I mean, I know it'll be hard to do surgeries and stuff like that, but I feel like it's another thing I can tackle. Plus, getting over my squeamishness would probably be a good idea anyway, just for down the road in case I have to take someone in for a surgery, something like that. Also, I like to dissect, as long as I'm not dissecting cats. Unless it's a specific cat named Boule. I don't like him (kidding).

Anyway. Huge rambling, I know, but again this is a huge time in my life. Otherwise, my summer has been incredibly, wonderfully busy, and looking back it's been absolutely amazing. I'll definitely use these last couple days to enjoy more of it! In the end, though, I'm just so thankful for all of the amazing opportunities I've been given. These things were never supposed to happen to me. I never thought I'd make it to college, or write for the local newspaper, or volunteer at the zoo. And it's even weirder, because when I look back over the years I realize how much I've changed. I'd like to think it's for the better. I've had some bad moments this year, like this guy who essentially called me a 'middle school writer'. I was hurt by that, but in the end I'd like to think his nasty, flaming comment was a major takeaway for me: I have lots of work to do. I need to look at myself, listen better, and find out what it is that I need to fix. And part of that, I think, was finding what career path was right for me.

Oh, last thing--I'm going to sell one of my paintings. I've always wanted to see if someone would ever buy my work. It's not brilliant (or even that good), but I think it'd be interesting to see if anyone would snatch it up.

Anyways, I hope your school years go well, too. May this be a year of great beginnings for you all, too!

Hey guys,

Today was my birthday, and it was absolutely perfect. Gorgeous day, parents off work--the works :) I got some amazing presents, but by far the best part was just hanging out with my parents and 6 pets/siblings. It was just really, really nice to be able to chill out together and have a darn good time doing it.

Also, I don't want to get too personal, but if you could, please say a prayer for my grandmother. She's got Stage 4 colon cancer and isn't doing very well at all. Admittedly, she is now allowed to at least eat, so she is doing somewhat better, but yeah...any good vibes, whatever you prefer, would be much appreciated. She could use (and definitely, definitely) deserves all the support.

Oh, and while we're on the subject, I heard Talia Castellano, the phenomenally talented YouTube beauty guru, also isn't doing too well. I know she has Stage 4 cancer, but I'm not 100% sure what kind. I read her page on Facebook and it says she's entering her final stage. I wish her and her family all the best.

Ahhhhhh I'm almost finished with my first year of college! I honestly can't believe it--didn't I just move in here not too long ago?

I can honestly say that as excited as I am for summer, I'm really sad to go. I've had such a great year here. Not a perfect one, but I'm really happy that I was able to come here and meet the people I did, learn what I did, and participate in the activities that I did. All in all, it was a great first year, and I can't wait for next year! :)

Hey everybody,

I know I haven't been too active lately--blame calculus for that one. It wants to destroy me. Anyways, I hope you are all well. I've been having a Nicolas Cage of a time with college so far (second semester is much much much much much much harder than the first one D: ).

I'm still working on Paulwolf. I'm actually taking it in a little bit of a different direction with some new characters and cakes...yeah.

However today is a snow day so maybe some of that will get done today!

Have a great day! And if you're like me and there's snow outside and ridiculously cold temps--be careful and keep warm :)

Happy Thanksgiving, people!

I hope you all have had a lovely one. I had a great one myself. I visited some family, ate some yummy turkey, and watched my cousin do gymnastics. Yeah. A full day to me.

But tomorrow night's going to be the best--many old friends are coming into town for a little reunion party--SO excited, because I haven't seen most of them in what feels like eons and eons and eons. Plus, there should be more good food, which is always the reason for going. In other words, I shall be at that party with bells on.

What about you guys? How were your Thanksgivings?

Con mucho amor,

XOXO

Dionne

This afternoon, my family and I decided that it was time for our lab, Tessie, to be euthanized. She was 17, my age, and it was her time. I believe that she had Stage 3 or 4 liver failure, so she wasn't doing too well.
I would write a poem or something like that, but I've been told before that that's a stupid idea, so I'll save my breath and write this instead.
Tessie was someone who lived life to the fullest. She would dig holes to her heart's content, and then she'd pester the other dogs. I love Tessie very, very much, but it's not easy for me to express my feelings. We didn't always get along, mainly because she made many aggravating messes around the house.
I'm not writing this for sympathy, as I know almost everyone on here has lost someone close to them. I've lost about five animals previous to her, and believe me it isn't easy.
Unfortunately, I wasn't very close to Tessie. We lived in the same house but we didn't interact much, aside from a pat on the head or something like that. But she's been an important part of my family, and I need the one person who reads this to make sure that they get to know their animals better than I know some of mine. You really need to show them that you care, even if they do aggravate you from time to time.

With that, RIP, Tessie. I love you, and I promise I won't fill in the holes that you dug.

Hello friends,

Not much has changed. I am officially out of school now, and I am officially vying for the internship position at the local newspaper. As far as DA updates go, I've arranged chapters from each of my novels into specific folders for easy access for those who care to read them. So...yes, if you like what you read, there's more. If you don't, well then there must be something wrong with you kidding.

Finally, this year has come to the end. Although in truth I really did enjoy it. The best class by far was chem. Youtube search whoosh bottle experiment if you want to see what I mean. I'm kind of sad, too, because a lot of my favorite people are going off to college next year. I mean that's a great thing but I'm gonna miss most of them:(. And this summer's gonna be crazy too. So I've got my internship interview on Monday...yikes! And then I'm taking some cake decorating class, even though I'm by no means a decorator of any kind and I'm going to fail so terribly...and then there's karate, which I'm currently failing at lol. So yeah...that's pretty much my life right now. Nothing too exciting...aside from the Delacorte Press Novel Competition I'm re-entering next year. Imma be working on a novel or two over the summer for that. My main goal as a senior is to win that contest. College is for nerds lol publish my books and I'm set for life. Anyways though. We shall see. And I think I'm rambling now so I'd better go tata and keep it divalicious delicious!!!:))))

On a sad note, Elisabeth Sladen passed away today after battling cancer. She was 63. For those of you who don't know, she was Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who. It was really shocking, actually. I had no idea she had cancer until today. Anyways, though, Sarah Jane will forever be an amazing DW character and Sladen will forever be a great actress.

It's late so this thought just popped into my head.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?

I'd live in Italy because it's beautiful there and I've ancestors from there.

Okay so I finally figured out what cockatielfanatic was talking about. Below are my results:

John thinks I'm loving
Paul thinks I'm kind
George hates me
Ringo loves me

Overall, pretty good. A little surprised by a kind comment from John, though ;)

I've taken the quiz as recommended by the cockyfanatic:

John: Wanna try my hat on??? *grins*
Paul: Hello, i think you're awesome. let's drive the train together!
George: You're weird. like Ringo.
Ringo: I ain't weird, she's weirder. hehe, but pretty too.
*So yeah, the five of you are in the train that time when the Beatles said that :) and they think you're really cool!*

Overall, pretty pleased. I LOVE John's hat (Sorry, Cal), Paul's adorable and sexy all mixed into one, I am weird to say the least and I'm cool with it if Ringo's weird, too. And it doesn't hurt that they'd all think I'm cool, either. Glad somebody does!

Unsure of what to do during one of those long lonely nights by yourself? Well, I know how you feel and so I've listed some great titles below.

1) The League of Extraordinary Gentleman-it may seem a little dull, but the plot is pretty engaging and it's a unique film about various people. In addition, Stuart Townsend does a marvelous turn as the narcissistic Dorian Gray.

2) Angel of Mine-this is a French film that is reminiscent of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle but with a more modern and much more French twist. It may seem predictable at first, but the ending is quite surprising. Plus, the scenery is absolutely fantastic.

3) Before Sunset-This is one for those sleepless nights that every gets now and then. Lull yourself into peaceful slumbers while listening to the engaging convresations of Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke. Great scenery here also. Plot is a little slow, but nonetheless a great film.

4) Queen of the Damned-Another Stuart Townsend movie. Good horror flick, but also very fun and entertaining.
